Totoka Hair & Make Up

This hairdresser shredded my long hair when they made a mistake with the developer. The hairdresser, Stephanie, pasted bleach all over despite my asking to only do the roots. My hair will take years to grow out Totoka’s damage. I’d love to be able to turn back time and never have been to this awful company.

Normally I barely put on any makeup and so I wanted something very minimal and natural for my wedding. And due to timing, I didn't have enough time to do a trial hair/makeup session before the actual day. But I didn't need to worry! Palavi was amazing and made me feel so comfortable. Thank you!

My long hair went through highlights which absolutely destroyed the texture and left my perfect long hair snapping off and straw like as the stylist didn't do as I asked and pasted high strength bleach all over my hair then lied to the owner claiming she only did a root retouch (which I had asked for). The owner's response was totally unsatisfactory and deceitful and even blamed me for not stopping the hairdresser! Despite me sending photographs showing her white bleach had been pasted from the root to the bra length hair ends she kept denying it happened and she made no attempt to look at what her employee had done. It must have happened to Totoka before as the lies, denials and scapegoating were instant and well rehearsed.

The worst hair experience of my life. I took them to court and won but considering it's going to be 5 years to grow back my hair it's not much consolation.

I wanted to take a moment to thank CMone and Amele from Totoka for all their hard work and wonderful effort to make myself, my mum and my maid of honour beautiful for my wedding yesterday (23.08.23).

We looked incredible and we are so pleased with their friendly, professional and supportive work.

If only we could bring them back with us to Australia for my wedding reception!

Totoka absolutely destroyed my long hair. Stephanie Singh pasted bleach through my entire hair after I asked for a root touch up. It’s now straw like and I’m devastated.

Stephanie used her magic to make me look and feel beautiful on my wedding day. She was prompt and genuine- her kindness and passion for making others feel their best makes her so special. Totoka requested my "looks" and ideas in advance and communicated thoroughly throughout our planning. I can't thank this business and Stephanie enough for their professionalism and for their ability to personalize an experience that can often times be stressful and fast-moving.

I recently used Totoka hair and makeup for our wedding in fiji. I cannot recommend them highly enough. From first contact at the booking, all the way up to our wedding time, they were truly amazing. My stylist was palavi, she was perfect. We had an elopement ceremony on an island, so she stayed with me all day and even helped me getting into my wedding dress as I had no one else there. Thank you thank you thank you for making me feel and look my best on our special day. Amazing.

My wife is of asian background and we found it initially difficult in Fiji to find a makeup artist that is experienced and skilled for doing her specific hair and makeup. After the first failed trial, she was understandably stressed and anxious until we came across Totoka. They were so kind, patient, receptive and understanding. The girls really catered to my wife's needs and took on-board all of my wife's requests and feedback without the feeling of awkwardness if it was something she didn't like.

My wife was actually able to contact them during the lead-up to the wedding and was sending the girls Instagram links of what she was after and they were super prompt and willing to take on-board all of her ideas.

I can't empathize enough how grateful we are to these girls and what an incredible job they did. Thank you so much Totoka team!

Being in Australia I had to organise everything via email the team got back to me really fast. Such a beautiful group of people who made my experience amazing. I will forever be greatful.

I would like to thank both Rani and Amele for the amazing service that they gave me last week for my friend Jamie-lees wedding. Rani was fabulous and made me look so fantastic that my Mother didn’t even recognise me in the photos I sent her. Honestly, Rani needs to go to Hollywood to become a makeup artist to the Stars, she’s that FABULOUS!

Amele, somehow tamed my Wahine hair and made it look smashing, completing a look that made me feel gorgeous. Amele had a sweet, gentle nature and went about executing her tasks delicately with fine attention to detail. I loved the look she created and she knew exactly what I wanted.

These Ladies are experts of their professions and they need to be recognised for the work they did (especially on me).
When I’m back in Fiji, I will definitely be booking in again.

I had requested for hair styling service and stylist Stephanie Singh was assigned to me. Steph was a charm to work with, she almost instantly understood the look I wanted to go for. I had specifically wanted to frame and balance my face in a particular way and Steph had done that beautifully. Even though, she was only supposed to do my hair, she even went out of her way to look for a pair of scissors for me, which I needed to trim my false lashes. My overall look for the event turned out to be exactly as I had expected. Highly recommending Steph:)

We had Palavi do my hair and make up for our wedding recently at Castaway island and she made me look amazing! I really had no idea what style I wanted so she led the way and it was perfect! Highly recommend wish I could have her do my hair and make up every day!
