DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji - Sonaisali Island reviews
56This place was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The staff acted like they had no clue what they were doing. My husband and I were so disappointed and in shock that it’s by Hilton! The location is way out of the way. The beach has trash and old tires on it. Posted picture. Our room smelled like Body Odor so bad. The food was drenched in so much vegetable oil that it didn’t taste like food. And the price was the same as a nice resort we stayed at! I can’t believe there’s good reviews because this place was a nightmare! We couldn’t wait to leave!
Loved the relaxing vibe this place had. I went for one night in 2 days on my birthday to treat myself and absolutely loved the room. It was very large air-conditioned and comfortable but at that same time. I found that when we went out to the pool and tried to participate in any activities. It just wasn't very exciting. This is definitely a place you would want to go just to relax. (Drinks ate very expensive)
Meh. Location is on its own by boat access only. Costs $100 to go into town round trip. You're cornered into paying premium for buffet ($90), breakfast ($30), and drinks are up to $32 each. Although the resort bans outside food, fill a suitcase with all the wine and grub you'll need if you're planning to stay here. Rooms are large, and have great views + washrooms are modern and clean.
A disappointing experience compared to other Fiji resorts and other Double Tree locations. My stay at Double Tree Sonaisali Island had too many issues to be overlooked. I stayed in one of the Bure rooms, which are spacious and have Fijian styling. Unfortunately my bathroom smelled terrible upon check in and there were lingering smells of something like body odor throughout the room. The overall physical condition of the property appeared to be lacking – most of the roofs of the Bure rooms had tarps covering sections or had missing sections of roof shingles and several sidewalks and paths have crumbling cement. The restaurant music was so loud that conversation was difficult and the food quality was below average and not on par with other Double Tree locations or similar Fiji resorts. I ordered room service on the second night and after waiting nearly an hour I called back and room service had to ask me for my order again, which was finally delivered 90 minutes after my first call. The breakfast buffet had sufficient variety but several items such as the scrambled eggs were stone cold. My wife was interested in a spa service, but upon visiting the spa 1 hour after their opening time, no one was present and the front desk staff could not locate the spa attendant. The beach access was also disappointing, as there is a sizeable beach at one end of the property but only about a 100 meter section was usable - the rest was littered with washed up trees and old tires. The staff are very friendly and appear to be trying at customer service but are clearly disorganized and often appeared as if it was their first time performing a task. Luckily we split our time in Fiji with another resort (direct competitor brand) with exactly the same nightly price and were amazed at how much better it was. This property was very low value for the premium price and had the feel of a one-off crackerjack type hotel, not a Hilton brand. Overall disappointing experience and would not recommend this resort.
Beautiful resort and amazing customer service. The whole team made us feel welcome and took a very good care of me and friend during our stay. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of choices. The theme nights buffet were fun too. Another restaurant was great as it was a la carte. It would be good to have some sort of fast food place at the resort as another food option. The only thing that it was not much to do at the resort in the evenings. In term of activities. It would be fun it was some sort of dancing or paining class, outdoor movie activity.
I have stayed here twice. The service is always friendly and fantastic. No frills hotel, great home base for those that want to get out and explore.
What an expensive dissapointment. At least double the price this resort should be charging for a room.
Hilton Doubletree was the most expensive of the 3 resorts we stayed at in our time in Fiji and by far the most sub par. How this resort is branded as the Hilton amazes me.
The grounds were old and un kept with rusted and broken lights scattered around the far end of the resort along with cables left bare. Some rooms had roofs covered with tarps and in desperate need of repair and proper maintenance due to trees not being trimmed and branches or coconuts falling onto the roof. (We heard this in our room at 3am scaring the daylights out of us)
The Valani Beach dining experience was visually fantastic with tables scattered under fairy lights and ocean views. Unfortunately the food was expensive and average at best.
Dining at the Al a carte restaurant was a much nicer option and the food was good. Meals came out on Fiji time but that was no worry.
The best assets of Hilton Doubletree were some of the staff and the location. The pool with swim up bar was great and while in the resort we spent most of our time around the pool. Sunset around the pool was beautiful.
The location was handy as it was a short 30 min cab ride to Port Denarau for day trips and activities.
For the excessive price charged for rooms I would reccomend staying anywhere else.
Wow where do I start. When we arrived. We felt apart of the community. Thankyou to Sera and u know who u are who looked after us. Miss dawn, Brenda, my darling Ashley and myself are forever grateful and will never forget the experience we received. Till we meet again. Vinaka.
Rooms are a good size.we had ground floor which made it easy to visit friends out the front. Upstairs rooms had a better view. No access for beach swimming, but the pool is good. Buffet dinners were expensive. Breakfast buffet was good.
A most wonderful place for a family getaway. Beautiful location & amazing staff. Fantastic pool and grounds. The views from our room were spectacular.
Not as renovated as website adnd reviews suggest.rooms are nice though. Service is a bit slow though
Was here for quarantine, on the last day the results were being delayed so we had wait and told to pay for lunch again, Very unethical, wonder what's the agenda.
Amazing place. The kids loved the kindliness of the staff and the kids club was on point. Lovely pool gazing right onto the horizon as the sun sets. Beautiful place and would definitely recommend it.
Excellent reception by hotel management and staff. Amazing food and from that brief visit, i strongly recommend this hotel and you wont be disaappointed.
An alright place. Fun to visit. Could do with an upgrade as some rooms have old fittings. Also the menu could do with an upgrade to suit the local palate. Otherwise a good resort.
This was our last stop on our trip! The hotel was beautiful and the food was good. Our room was very clean and comfortable. One thing we didn't like is how far from our room we had to walk to be able to swim in the ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was interesting, nothing like we've stayed before, we had to take a small boat across the bay to get to the hotel which was quite cool. We were able to go fishing with a local who worked at the hotel which was an amazing experience. We would stay again. 4/5 stars because it was a little expensive for food and items in the shop.
Next to last stop on 24 day world tour, our favorite stop. We sailed, horseback and toured the markets, and went through Raymond
Burr's (Perry Mason) fantastic flower gardens. The units were great and the staff fabulous, went out of their way to accomodate us/ 5/5
The resort is awesome, the environment. The beach. The pool. The rooms are all 5 star.it's the service. The smiling faces to welcome and the warmness that is missing and the hopeless menu so overall a 3 star
Peaceful place to stay. Many activities available to do on payment. Free activity is kayaking and beach games.
Great views and facilitates. But if you want to eat/drink anything expect there to be atleast a 35+ minute wait on your order even when your 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant. Ive been to many resorts in fiji and this one has to be the biggest let down: (
